PRATIK & XITI

Pratik & Xiti’s colourful and traditional 3 day wedding was held at both Royal Livingstone by Anantara and Avani Hotels & Resort here in Livingstone, Zambia.

The wedding weekend started with a welcoming dinner for all their guests from around the world. Some that are originally from Zambia who have made a home for themselves in Europe and across other areas of the world. It’s always lovely to hear how happy they are to be back in their home country.

The rest of the three days were filled with colourful and exciting events like the Pithi ceremony – a ceremony that symbolises the cleansing and purification of the bride and groom before the wedding. It’s a ritual specifically for good luck and well – wishes.

Then there was the Santak ceremony which is performed to remove all obstacles the couple may face and to bring hope and prosperity to the couple’s lives. This I have found is quite emotional for some as it is such a deep and meaningful ceremony. Everyone wishes them only the best.

The Sangeet ceremony was up next – and what an amazing event this is. I was enthralled by the ability of everyone’s dancing and just the determination and endurance they have. Dancing all night long, without stopping. Such a tremendous event be witness.

Then came the WEDDING! My goodness, the colours and elaborate dresses are so amazing to see! Words fail me..

Here are some highlights of each event.
